Bottom Line: The Schwinn 431 elliptical trainer is a big improvement over the 430 model. At first glance, you see only that a fan was added to the console. But Schwinn has added more programming, a backlit display and, most importantly, beefed up the cheap components used on previous models.

Pros:
Pivoting foot pedals support the foot and ankle's natural movement through the entire elliptical stride.
Cons:
Schwinn is owned by Nautilus Group, which has been consistently ranked dead last in customer service for fitness companies.
Front drive system undermines the smoothness of the elliptical motion.
