Bottom Line:The 14.0 CE by Proform (an Icon brand) is an entry level elliptical machine with lots of features and user options for less than $1000, but the machine is lacking in both comfort and usability.
Thoughts: The Proform 14.0 CE is a feature rich elliptical machine. It has 18 preset workout applications, iFit-live functionality, 14 resistance levels, a 5" LCD display, and a convenient water bottle holder. The Proform 14.0 CE attempts to put workout customization and comfort into the hands of the user; however, lots of the options do fall short. Despite the 14 levels of resistance there is very little difference between each level leaving the user with what feels more like 4 or 5 distinct resistance levels. The same issue is true of the 18 built in presets. Each preset is "different", but only slightly. They end up feeling like the same workouts with very subtle variations. As far as usability goes this elliptical machine has flimsy rails, a noisy drive system, and an uncomfortable motion. This elliptical machine only offers a limited 1 year parts warranty whereas other manufacturers such as Smooth Fitness and Life Fitness offer a 5-7 year guaranteed parts warranty and 2year labor warranty. The Proform 14.0 CE provides the user with lots of workout options and features. It works fairly well as a basic entry level elliptical trainer but fails the satisfy the basic attributes of a high quality elliptical.
