Precor EFX 5.31 Elliptical

Bottom Line: Rear drive is a big plus, but coupled with the front incline ramp, this unit provides a very unnatural bunny-hop feel for any user over 5'4" in height. Don't even consider an elliptical machine without upper body handles to help get your heart rate up.
Thoughts:The Precor EFX 5.31 is the base model in the EFX 5.3 lineup. This machine offers the same elliptical motion, motor and base frame design as the 5.33, 5.35, and 5.37 designs. The biggest change on the 5.31 is the lack of dynamic handle bars. This is a really significant feature loss for this machine. Coming in at $3,999 we find it very hard to justify paying that kind of money for an elliptical that does not offer a total body workout. If you are going to choose an EFX 5.3 series machine form Precor, steer clear of the 5.31 as it offers very poor value for money. For home use, versatility is key and the Precor 5.31 provides only a lower body workout, coupled with the same uncomfortable elliptical motion for taller (over 5'4") users as we saw on the higher end 5.3 models. We would recommend Smooth Fitness as an alternative manufacturer if you want the best quality and value for your money.
