Bottom Line:The NordicTrack E7.1 elliptical machines offers a rear drive system and incline options, but little in the way of quality construction for a $999.00 price tag.
Thoughts: The E7.1 NordicTrack elliptical machine (an Icon brand) has 20 built in workout presets, 16 resistance levels, adjustable stride length, and a 10-30degree adjustable incline ramp. We found the workout presets to work well; however, there was little variation between each workout. The 16 resistance levels did provide ample torque, but the highest setting left us wanting more. The incline feature does not allow the user to operate the elliptical at any incline below 10degrees. We found this to be a very poor design decision as it severely limits workout customization by constantly forcing an inclined configuration. The drive system on this machine was noisy, but we did like the folding design. All in all the NordicTrack E7.1 offers a generous amount of features and a compact design, but fails to deliver basic usability and comfort standards found in higher quality brands such as Life Fitness and Precor.
