NordicTrack A.C.T. ProNordicTrack A.C.T. Pro elliptical machine

Price: $2,499

Bottom Line:The NordicTrack A.C.T. Pro elliptical trainer provides the user with a unique space saving design but fails to meet the quality standards one would associate with its $2,499 price tag.

Thoughts:The A.C.T. Pro elliptical machine by NoridcTrack(an Icon brand) does offer a wide range of features including, adjustable stride length, natural stance pedals, workout fan, and a full length hand rail. Many of these features are great, but suffer when coupled with the design of this machine. For example, the natural stance pedals seem like a great improvement over a standard elliptical design, but we found the close positioning caused knee pain after about a 30minute workout at a medium-to-high pace. The adjustable stride length is a nice feature, but we would have liked to have seen it coupled with an incline adjustment considering this elliptical's cost. Also the dual motor design of this machine doubles the number of moving parts which doubles maintenance costs. This machine does offer a few nice features but a lot of key performance traits were sacrificed to allow for the space saving design. In the end we'd recommend a full size machine at this price point. Take away the NordicTrack A.C.T. Pro's space savings and you are left with a mediocre entry-level elliptical machine with a high-end price tag.
