NordicTrack A.C.T. Commercial Pro
Price: $2,799
Bottom Line:The A.C.T. Commercial Pro by NordicTrack stands as the highest priced NordicTrack elliptical trainer and shares its design with the A.C.T Commercial and A.C.T. Pro. Coming in at $2,799, this machine does have a plethora of workout features but still lacks in key areas that make up a great elliptical trainer.
Thoughts:The NordicTrack A.C.T. Commercial Pro offers a unique experience with its inline dual motor design. It has iFit live functionality, a 350lb weight capacity, a 5year parts/2year labor warranty, 18"-22" adjustable stride, and a built in web-browser powered by Android technology. While all of these ingredients should result in a great workout experience we found the A.C.T. Commercial to have some flaws. The dual motor design was rather noisy and, with the added moving parts, maintenance costs go up. The natural foot positioning that NordicTrack attempted to create by placing a motor towards the outside of the user as opposed to the more traditional center mounted design, left users feeling very cramped in the space allotted. The built in web-browser powered by Android is a nice feature, but it's incorporation into the workout felt very superficial. The A.C.T. Commercial Pro from NordicTrack may be the right fit for some, but in this price range we'd recommend going with a company such as Life Fitness, who offer true commercial grade machines that will last a lifetime and supply the same multitude of features.
Pros:
- Unique compact design
- Stride adjustment
- Android powered display
- 20 preset workouts
Cons:
- Akward foot position
- Unstable at high paces
- Feature rich - quality sparse
- Lots of added moving parts
