Bottom Line:The Pathfinder by NordicTrack (an Icon brand) is an entry level rear drive elliptical machine featuring NordicTrack's shock technology, but many of its features were poorly executed.
Thoughts:The NordickTrack Pathfinder elliptical trainer has a laundry list of features including; iFit live functionality, slip-resistant pedals, 15 resistance levels, 15-35 degree incline ramp, 18"-20" stride adjustment, and NordicTrack's shock technology. We found the resistance levels to work fairly well, but the motor used to adjust the incline was extremely slow and very noisy. This became a major hassle as quick incline changes were difficult to achieve. Also, as we see with many NordicTrack drive systems, the Pathfinder's was very noisy. The shock system installed on this machine is designed to achieve quicker workout results by targeting a larger number of muscle groups. We thought this was an interesting design, but it was poorly executed. The shocks add a bouncing effect that can easily throw off even the most experience elliptical users pace. The NordicTrack Pathfinder is jam packed with features but it suffers from many of the common NordicTrack issues such as noise, low quality parts, and flimsy rail design. This machine may work for those who desire its specific features, but with poor shock technology execution and a number of design flaws we'd recommend turning away from this elliptical trainer.
