Nordic
Track CX 990 - This elliptical receives the "Best Buy" primarily
for the Quick Ramp adjustable incline. TruPace, sold by 1800Treadmill, has some great offerings in this price range as well. The TruPace E250 is an easy runner up in this category.
$1,000
- $2,000
Smooth
CE 7.4 - The CE 7.4 by Smooth Fitness is one of the best ellipticals we've ever used. It's extremely well built, carries an unbelievable warranty, is smooth, quiet, and has a great, natural motion. The CE 7.4 is an elliptical you simply can't go wrong with. This unit used to be well over $2000, and was STILL a great buy at that price. Now, at around $1600, it's a steal!
$2,000
- $3,000
In the $2000 - $3000 price range, the elliptical market gets a bit tricky. There's basically 2 options. Option 1: choose something like the Precor EFX 5.19 or Life Fitness X3 and pay for limited features and a name you see in your gym (just a name). Option 2: Buy something like the Smooth Agile DMT or Smooth Agile DMT X2 and get incredible features like dynamic motion at a great price, backed by an OUTSTANDING elliptical warranty!
$3,000+
And
now for the envelope please. Most industry professionals would agree that the Precor EFX 5.23 is the top elliptical
trainer in the market. The CrossRamp technology is a premium feature which distinguishes
this elliptical from the rest. Being able to adjust the incline to your elliptical
stride adds a whole new dimension to cross training. It is built for commercial
use and will withstand the most arduous use.
