NordicTrack Elliptical Trainers
NordicTrack is a subsidiary of Icon Health and
Fitness, the largest manufacturer of fitness equipment in the world. The original
NordicTrack went bankrupt some years ago and Icon bought the name. Icon also
builds Schwinn, ProForm and Reebok elliptical trainers, which are also reviewed on ellipticaltrainers.com.
In addition to being sold online, you will find Icon products in numerous mass
merchant and large sporting goods stores. This includes Sears, Wal-Mart, Dick's
Sporting Goods and Sports Authority.
Employing
over 200 engineers, this company excels in creating innovative products with numerous
bells and whistles. What they generally lack in their elliptical crosstrainers, as well as
their treadmills, is quality components. You'll find for the money you get a big
and beefy machine, although it is what is under the hood that is important.
The
models reviewed are iFit compatible. This is actually a brilliant marketing gimmick.
For an additional $15 per month you can get a variety of downloadable specialized
programs for your elliptical machine. You can sign up for a free month and determine whether there is any value to having various programs. Personally we prefer to have a
core of programs that either we create manually or are pre-programmed in the elliptical trainer.
Warranty
If
you plan to buy a NordicTrack elliptical we recommend you consider the extended
warranty. Their current warranty is one year labor and parts, and in general Icon
products are not known for their longevity. Warranties are often a good indication
on quality. We would also suggest that you consider a NordicTrack elliptical
only for light to moderate use.
