Life Fitness Elliptical Trainers
Life Fitness is a division of Brunswick Corporation. The company started over three decades ago with their first Lifecycle exercise bike, and since then has grown into an industry leader in both the commercial and residential fitness markets. In addition to elliptical cross-trainers, they build treadmills, home gyms, exercise bikes and stair climbers. They pride themselves as innovators, with a list of over 50 U.S. patents and performance features that have altered the course of fitness history.
Design, biomechanics, research, and testing are key components in their recipe for high quality fitness equipment. They have an in-house biomechanics program to see that their equipment not only helps deliver workouts that feel good to the exerciser, but also to quantify what effect the person in motion has on the machine. They also created the Life Fitness Academy, which consists of esteemed fitness professionals and a medical advisory board to help study the science and medicine of exercise and promote specific training programs.
Life Fitness offers both commercial elliptical trainers as well as five home models. All of the home machines have rear drive systems which are generally very flat stride patterns. This makes the workout really easy even for seniors.
On the higher end, Life also offers an electronic adjustable stride ranging from 18" - 24" in length on their X8 and a manually adjusted stride length on their X5 model. The electronic adjustable stride length is a decent feature but at that price range you can go with the incredible Agile DMT machine by Smooth Fitness which not only adjusts stride length but also the motion as well.
